It’s been a while since I did this, so let’s just launch on in here. I ended up being lucky enough to get the job that I interviewed for just before Christmas, so I spent my Christmas break happy that I was starting work very soon. Chasing freelance work takes a lot of time for not a lot of money, so the idea of regular work is a very happy one.
I have been sewing a bit more – this shirt below is a pattern that I bought, and then discovered that the material I had in mind for it wasn’t quite enough. So it’s been waiting until I got something else for it. Just putting the pattern together was an ordeal though, I’m a bit over PDF patterns and having to piece them together.
I finished all the super hero masks that I was making for Christmas and my children were very happy. Then my son requested one for his favourite toy too. I made a few prototypes out of paper to get the proper sizing and shape, then ended up with this. I went with the Ninja Turtle inspired one because it was so tiny that the detail of the other masks wouldn’t have worked as well.
I also tackled a paper pattern and sewing with knit fabric and made myself a shirt. I love it quite a bit. So far it’s holding up well in the wash too.
And that’s most of what I’ve completed – I started a regular craft/work on projects/catch up with friends and I have some projects cut out and waiting for me to sew up from that. My aim is to do the prep for them – patterns ready, cut out materials – during those sessions and then sew in between. That would make sure that I get something complete every month. I’m not sure if it will happen, especially once uni starts back, but we’ll see how I go!
