Longreach was where it felt like we were really beginning our trip, as it was where we were meeting our friends. We got in late after what was a long drive for us and a short drive by Outback standards.
We saw brolgas, and amazing flat outback sunsets. We went to the Qantas Museum, including the night show and it was great. I loved the night show. The Stockmans Hall of Fame was good for learning about Australia in the 1800s but I felt that it glossed over some of the history.

We stayed at the Longreach Tourist Park in cabins. The cabins were really new, two bedroom and had bbqs nearby. It was a bit of a walk to the pool. There was a restaurant at the caravan park but we ended up having dinner at the RSL one night and having a bbq the other night that we were there.
We also had a few lunches out and did some food shopping. The IGA in Longreach was well stocked even for my more limited diet. I even found dairy free ice cream!
We didn’t plan too much in Longreach as a lot of the tourist tours were too long for our kids, so we decided to come back when we are grey nomads, and do everything else.
