Gordon Country

We have been wanting to go camping at Gordon Country for years, and finally got there! We don’t usually go camping at Easter, mostly due to not being organised enough to book ahead but organised friends suggested a trip so off we went.

We weren’t organised enough to get powered camping but I put our names in their cancellation list and we were lucky enough to upgrade to a powered campsite a few weeks before the trip.

The creek near our campsite

I think we were quite lucky there as there were two big groups in the powered area which meant a lot of space for those of us not in the groups. We had a space with our friends and were expecting others to have to crowd in with us but the spot next to us stayed open and we even had a grassy open area next to us all weekend so we could have our fire down there, throw a frisbee around and spread out.

Even though the water was cold, the creek was packed with kids most of the weekend.

We spent a lot of time down there, along with playing board games, remote control cars and even a bike ride. The downside of the weekend was it was quite crowded so the bike ride was a bit hectic with cars as we had to go on to the road past the campground to check out the other campground areas.

The place is huge with many different areas to choose from. Being in the powered area meant we were near the toilets, showers and office/shop but there was a long wait for showers so I was looking at people with their own showers set up a bit enviously.

We had a great time! We did end up leaving early as there were storms forecast for the next day, and we decided packing up leisurely while we were all still happy was the better way to go.
